This week on Success Freaks, Charles & Mordant discuss how each team member has a role, but what happens when you find yourself in the Scotty position and you know you’re really Captain Kirk? Should you play to your strengths or try to level up by playing the ENTIRE Star Trek cast? The guys talk about Scotty’s & Kirk’s specific roles and how that can apply to you. Chatroom Question: Should you undersell yourself in order to get ahead. All this and more… on this episode of Success Freaks!

Segment One –
Charles talks about how his roles in life are both Scotty & Kirk. Mordant discusses how it’s important to know where/who you want to be in life. Do you want to be in a support position/Scotty? Or is a leadership role/Kirk your goal? Charles talks about keeping the focus on who you are.
Segment Two –
We NEED Scotty! We NEED Kirk! All the differing roles are necessary.
It’s okay to be able to fill different roles on a team. Mordant asks why it is good to be “Jack of All Trades” while mastering none? Is is better to play what you’re good at or try to widen your skills. Or, to spread thin the skills you have already.
Segment Three –
In this segment, show Producer Mike asks: Is Scotty’s practice of underselling his skills a valid way to work?
Mordant says… Sure! As long as you’re not using it as a way to be lazy, underselling the situation in order to make sure you can perform as needed is fine.
Charles says… he knows people who do this. And, he does something similar in that he likes to exceed people’s expectations.
Segment Four – Level Up
This week’s “Level Ups”:
Charles’ Level Up: Surround yourself with smart, capable people. Get your hustle on! Do the work! Look for chances to learn and become Scotty or even level up to Kirk.
Mordant’s Level Up: Allow yourself opportunities to grow. Find someone to be your Kirk if you need him but don’t be afraid to BECOME Kirk.
Segment Five –
On Beyond Success Freaks (Here Charles and Mordant talk about how they “Go bigger, Badder, Better, More!”):
Retirement. What it can and should be: Charles says… your retirement doesn’t have to be a time of inactivity. Exercise your freedom to look for ways to keep moving forward and do what you want in your later years. Mordant follows up with the importance of doing SOMETHING. Find something you’ve wanted to do and do it. Don’t stop moving forward. You don’t have to let “retirement” slow you down. But, don’t forget to relax and enjoy your time. Balance is critical!
